Chronic Pain Management Through Aquatic Therapy
Presented by Andrea Salzman, PT, MS
Recorded Webinar
Course: #5438Level: Introductory2 Hours
Discover evidence-based strategies for integrating aquatic therapy into chronic pain management. This introductory 2-hour webinar explores how water's unique physical properties—buoyancy, hydrostatic pressure, and thermal effects—create an optimal environment for therapeutic exercise in patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain. Participants will learn the physiological mechanisms underlying aquatic therapy's effectiveness, practical protocols for common chronic pain conditions including low back pain, osteoarthritis, and fibromyalgia, and essential safety considerations. Through examination of recent clinical trials and systematic reviews, attendees will gain immediately applicable knowledge to implement aquatic therapy programs that reduce pain, improve function, and enhance quality of life for their patients.

Bowel, Bladder, and Sexuality Following Spinal Cord Injury
Presented by Kristen Cezat, PT, DPT, NCS, ATP/SMS
Live WebinarWed, Aug 5, 2026 at 6:00 pm EDT
Course: #5450Level: Introductory2 Hours
This continuing education course provides therapists with an evidence-based overview of bowel, bladder, and sexual health following spinal cord injury (SCI). Participants will examine the pathophysiology and interdisciplinary management strategies that promote health, independence, participation, and quality of life. The course emphasizes the therapist's role in patient education, identification of complications, clinical decision-making, and referral to appropriate specialists. Practical recommendations for facilitating patient-centered discussions regarding bowel, bladder, and sexual health will be integrated throughout the course to support comprehensive SCI rehabilitation practice.

Moving Forward with Peripheral Arterial Disease: Differential Diagnosis and Evidence-Based Exercise Prescription
Presented by Melissa Bednarek, PT, DPT, PhD, CCS
Live WebinarThu, Aug 6, 2026 at 12:00 pm EDT
Course: #5541Level: Introductory2 Hours
While not always the primary diagnosis, peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a comorbidity that can limit a patient's ability to progress with physical therapy. It is crucial for therapists across the healthcare continuum to understand the nuances of this condition, given that a cornerstone of its treatment is a structured walking program. This course provides essential insights into the differential diagnosis and evidence-based management of PAD. This course was designed for an interprofessional audience.

Navigating Polypharmacy and Multi-Morbidity: A PT's Guide to Exercise Optimization and Patient Management
Presented by Robin Schroeder, PT DPT, GCS, OCS, CSCS, CLT, A-CEEAA
Live WebinarThu, Aug 13, 2026 at 12:00 pm EDT
Course: #5537Level: Advanced2 Hours
Seventy-three percent of older adults have two chronic conditions, and 36% have four or more, leading to management with polypharmacy. One in 5 older adults uses 5 or more prescription medications and is taking a medication that adversely affects a co-existing condition. Polypharmacy bidirectionally impacts physical function and, therefore, physical activity. Adults who participate in aerobic and strengthening activity recommendations have a greatly reduced risk for all-cause mortality. Physical therapists who understand how the movement system interacts with multimorbidity and polypharmacy are uniquely qualified to guide complex patients through safe and effective exercise programs to improve physical function and reduce mortality. This session will use the ACSM exercise recommendation guidelines to consider each multimorbidity’s effect on the exercise prescription, balance polypharmacy considerations, and maximize patient safety and exercise dosing for meaningful results. Using exemplar cases, the learner will be challenged to recognize patterns of multimorbidity and pharmacotherapy, discuss the role of the physical therapist within the multidisciplinary team and in patient communication, and optimize patient outcomes. The Beers List of potentially inappropriate medications to be avoided in older adults will be incorporated, and a schema will be provided to integrate advanced clinical reasoning into the care of complex patients.

Managing Spasticity and Tone in SCI Rehabilitation
Presented by Lauren Young, PT, DPT, NCS, CSRS
Recorded Webinar
Course: #5396Level: Advanced2 Hours
This course breaks down the science behind why spasticity develops after spinal cord injury, how to measure it accurately, and what the evidence says about treating it. Along the way we will challenge common clinical assumptions and build a practical framework for deciding when to treat, when to hold back, and how to work effectively with the rest of the interdisciplinary team for better patient outcomes. Whether you are new to SCI rehabilitation or looking to sharpen your clinical reasoning, participants will leave with a practical outcome measure battery, an evidence-based intervention framework, and a working knowledge of pharmacological and interventional options directly relevant to their practice.

Managing Medically Complex Children in a Mobile Physical Therapy Setting
Presented by Jennetta Spears, PT, DPT
Live WebinarThu, Aug 20, 2026 at 12:00 pm EDT
Course: #5538Level: Introductory2 Hours
This introductory course provides pediatric physical therapists with foundational knowledge and practical considerations for delivering physical therapy services to medically complex children in home and community-based settings. Clinicians will explore common medical conditions, equipment, and healthcare technologies encountered in mobile practice, including tracheostomies, ventilators, feeding tubes, orthotics, and positioning devices. The course will discuss safety considerations, caregiver collaboration, environmental adaptations, and strategies for integrating therapy into daily routines. Participants will gain increased confidence in evaluating, planning, and implementing physical therapy interventions for medically complex pediatric patients outside of traditional clinical settings.

Advanced Clinical Reasoning in Wound Management: Optimizing Dressing Selection
Presented by Jennifer Gardner-Harbison, PT, DPT, MHA, CWS
Recorded Webinar
Course: #5439Level: Advanced2 Hours
This advanced webinar enhances clinical reasoning skills for evidence-based wound dressing selection. Participants will analyze wound characteristics, healing progression, and patient-specific factors to determine appropriate escalation, transition, or de-escalation of dressings using current peer-reviewed evidence and clinical guidelines. Emphasis is placed on mechanism-driven decision making, skilled documentation, and interdisciplinary communication to optimize patient outcomes.

In both skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) and home health (HH), older adults rely on physical and occupational therapy to regain function. In 2024, CMS elevated the importance of functional outcomes by adopting the Discharge Function Score across the HH Expanded VBP Model, SNF QRP, and SNF VBP directly typing payment to patient progress. This session gives PTs and OTs a clear, practical overview of the measure, how it is calculated, and why it matters. Attendees will learn actionable strategies for integrating the score into daily practice, strengthening documentation, and ensuring that each patient's functional gains are accurately captured. Participants will leave prepared to collaborate with their agencies and facilities to improve quality and performance, and to highlight the essential value of rehabilitation in post-acute care.
