Vestibular physical therapists are in a unique position to leverage their knowledge and skills to optimize diagnosis and treatment for patients presenting with dizziness/vertigo. The ED and Acute Care setting presents the opportunity for assessment and treatment of acute presentations of dizziness/vertigo, which the speaker utilizes to impart knowledge and skills for working with people who have vestibular system pathology. This course is directly related to the practice of physical therapy and is therefore appropriate for the PT/PTA.
Editor's Note: Regarding Pennsylvania credits, this course is approved by the PA State Board of Physical Therapy for 1 hour of general and 1 hour of Direct Access CE credit.

Dana B. Thomas, MS, PT, has been practicing as a physical therapist for nearly 30 years. She has worked at WakeMed Raleigh Hospital, a large trauma center/tertiary care hospital, for over 28 years. Special interests include vestibular diagnoses, stroke, brain injury/concussion, neurological/neuromuscular diseases, and complex medical diagnoses. She is currently employed in the role of Clinical Specialist, Vestibular and Balance Assessment and Treatment, where she serves as an expert clinician and a resource to other clinical staff, including physicians, midlevel practitioners, and other therapists. Ms. Thomas has a strong interest in the accuracy of diagnosis/team approach to diagnosis and has co-authored three articles on this topic
