I think it will be an eye opener for some folks. I, myself, always interested in other cultures especially food, language and music. So I find myself asking a lot of questions. and my patient's are always happy to share. I did enjoy this course but not sure i learned anything new.

Opening up what so many people are overlooking and do affect their ability to interact with other people of different cultures due to their unconscious beliefs or lack of education about those cultures. I believe it is time to open up your mind and accept other people for who they really are.

Although it is an introductory course, it was very very basic. And I am not sure that it gave enough examples of what bias is and unconscious assumptions for people to actually understand what it is.

The activities are excellent and really made me think of (my) biases ( identify the appropriate ethnicity and write the first word that comes to mind after reading the given term). I like that we were given an action plan to work on. The handouts are great ( mitigating implicit biases, action plan, my cultural identity). As an African American (AA), I wanted to see AA results on that 2010 US Census shown. It would be good for others to see that data also because many think we are a larger group of the US population but we are only 13% of the US population. Thank you for this excellent course.

SIMPLE EXPLANATION
by
Paul
on
December 13, 2020
I wish it could have been longer, far too important a topic in today's polarized society to devote just 1 hour. One caveat is there is no counter-narrative. One might say in opposition to the presenters narrative that implicit biases can in practice promote a positive primal response mechanism if these biases are positive in nature. Universality of this outcome may be ideal for acculturation of a society while retaining ones varies histories, cultures, theistic and non-theistic belief structures dating back to what science proves is a common ancestor for all humans. Thank you.

this is the best course I've taken so far.... I am 65 yrs on, currently on disability and looking to return to per diem PT work in Jan 2021, I took this because it was an hour. I have worked hard since childhood not to be racist. I grew up in segregated wilmington, de. I have over the years identified enough implicit bias to understand. this course is so relevant now!!!! I will recommend it to all my pt friends doing pt.com. i also plan to take the harvard test!!! my best friend coworder is from the phillipines. I will ask her to come over and specifically tell me about her culture, hopefully without interrupting her. she is also one of the people i will recommend this course to.....
