Implicit Bias training is an important first step in understanding the complexities of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging in healthcare. This LARA-compliant training will cover the current research on Implicit Biases and what interventions organizations can do to combat and dismantle Implicit Bias.
This course was created to meet the requirement for Implicit Bias Training for individuals licensed by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) Bureau of Professional Licensing, though information in it is relevant to all states. This course uses Hyvor Talk to facilitate discussions between the presenters and participants to fulfill the interactivity requirement for implicit bias training for Michigan licensees.

Dr. Katrinna Matthews earned a Doctor of Social Work from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul MN, a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN, and a Master of Education in Counselor Education from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. Dr. Matthews earned a certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University, and is a Licensed Advanced Practice Social Worker (LAPSW) in the state of Tennessee, with over 15 years of social work experience. Dr. Matthews has worked with diverse patient populations in a variety of settings, ranging from child welfare to in-center hemodialysis. Her passion is social work education, trauma, and medical social work, especially as it relates to bringing awareness to health disparities and ultimately closing the health gap.
Anna Smith earned a Master of Audiology at Rush University in Chicago, IL, and a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. Anna has 6 years of experience working in the field of Audiology, primarily working in Intra-Operative Monitoring. She currently is a Continuing Education Manager at Continued and has spent the last 15 years working in the field of education with allied health professionals. She earned an additional certificate in 2022 to explore her passion for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work.
Leigha Jansen, Ed.D., CCC-A has been an audiologist for nearly 20 years and is also a graduate of the Fischler School of Education at Nova Southeastern University. Leigha’s research interests focus on the use of simulation technologies and gaming in CSD higher education, as well as effective continuing education methodologies for adult learners.
