- After this course, participants will be able to define myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) according to two contemporary case definitions.
- After this course, participants will be able to appraise a patient’s case for the diagnostic features of ME, including potentially under-represented or under-served demographic risk groups.
- After this course, participants will be able to compare the clinical presentation of ME with other health conditions that cause persistent pain and fatigue.
- After this course, participants will be able to discuss the evidence regarding the physical and cognitive pathophysiological processes underlying the clinical presentation of ME/chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS).
- After this course, participants will be able to describe the relevance of post-exertional malaise to clinical assessment and intervention strategies.

Todd E. Davenport
PT, DPT, PhD, MPH
Todd E. Davenport is a professor and chair of the School of Health Science’s Department of Physical Therapy at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. He earned bachelor’s degrees in psychology and exercise science (sports medicine) from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, followed by his Doctor of Physical Therapy and post-graduate Residency in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Subsequently, Dr. Davenport earned a Master of Public Health degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a Doctor of Philosophy in Sport, Health, and Exercise Sciences from the University of Portsmouth. In addition to his academic responsibilities, Dr. Davenport is a scientific advisor to the Workwell Foundation in Santa Rosa, California, and he serves as Chair of Long Covid Physio, an international organization focused on the promotion of education, research, and peer support for health care professionals living with Long Covid.
