Question

In regard to the need for internal rotation of the hip during a golf swing, do you have any ideas for clients with total hip replacements and the restrictions that are in place after the replacement?

Answer

The range of motion restrictions after this surgery are put into place by the surgeon. These restrictions will be determined by the surgical technique, age of the client and the client's overall physical health. It will be different with those who are younger and those who are healthier overall. Have a conversation with the surgeon on what they approve for the patient’s therapy. Sometimes with these patients, it is a simple issue of working with a golf pro and changing the patient's swing to accommodate for the limitations in range of motion required after replacement.
