This course will discuss the swimming strokes and their effect on the swimmer’s shoulder as well as common physical limitations related to a swimmer’s shoulder. Evaluation and treatment with an emphasis on the scapula will be presented. This course is directly related to the practice of physical therapy and athletic training and is therefore appropriate for the PT and PTA and AT.

Learning Outcomes
- The participant will be able to describe at least three basic mechanics of the different swim strokes. as well as possible injury inducing variations to the stroke.
- The participant will be able to identify at least three possible injury inducing variations to the swim stroke.
- The participant will be able to identify at least three key evaluation components of a swimmer's shoulder assessment.
- The participant will be able to describe at least three appropriate rehabilitation interventions and exercises,including how various hand positions/exercise surfaces can affect activation of scapular stabilizers.
- The participant will be able to list at least three common physical limitations found in swimmer's shoulders.
