Addressed above. Also, the only question I got wrong is clearly written and discussed in the material as to NOT ask “preferred”, yet it’s the correct answer? I thought it was the “best” answer but since it was presented as wrong I chose the “second best” answer. Towards the end of the presentation Dr. Stone went over several test questions based on typed in requests so it seems many of us struggled with the exam. Maybe the test would benefit from a revision.

I am worried that medical science is not concerned nearly enough about the moral aspects, of surgically mutilating a body, in the name of science; offering pseudo-affirmations for transgender surgeries, to distinct body dysmorphia characteristics. The argument made was that subjects did not get better with "true" body dysmorphia surgeries. I argue that transgender surgery offers a superficial and immoral solution to a subject's inability to adapt to the dissatisfaction of their biological body.

I didn't hear scientific evidence for why we should change from the biological truth of our identity as female or male. The multitude of pronouns and labels you list seem to be based on feelings. I will respectfully address others using he/she and him/her. By doing this I affirm their true biological self which is male or female. If you refuse to respect this perspective, perhaps you are practicing a lack of acceptance and affirmation for others who think as I do.

Great course! I feel that this is a topic not many people approach. With the every changing world and more acceptance, this is a huge topic that needs to be addressed. I have come across various pts that are transgender and they have told me that certain healthcare workers aren't very nice. I think everyone needs to remember that we can't have judgement in out profession. We are human, so we do, but we need to learn to set that aside to provide excellent care.

added a lot to what i have already accrued from political, personal , and spiritual information; reminds me to be more thoughtful in my assumptions (or better yet, not to make them), gave me enormous insight into needs related to physical and psychological problems of persons across the gender identity spectrumthought i was pretty well informed, seems i have a lot to learn.i worked with a mostly elderly population, make lots of assumptions and i am not as open ended and language conscious as i have now learned i need to be. thank you for thatand you for thati was arrogant about what i thought was a very informed and respectful approach to gender identity spectrum issues, seems i still have much to learn . you have educated me to be more thoughtful and less presumptive.I will incorporate these lessons into my practice, and will seek to become more informed as i find more information.
