This course will review current knowledge and issues regarding concussion diagnosis and management. I will highlight a multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation of concussed patients with a focus on balance issues and early rehabilitation and exercise as a treatment modality. This course is directly related to the practice of physical therapy and athletic training and and is therefore appropriate for the PT/PTA and AT.
- The participant will be able to identify at least two of the leading high school sports associated with concussions in males and females.
- The participant will be able to identify the percent of concussions that involve the loss of consciousness.
- The participant will be able to outline the appropriate progression through a return to play protocol.
- The participant will be able to identify the appropriate number of rest days away from exercise post-concussion.
