Prenatal Preventative Measures For De Quervain's Tenosynovitis
This course intends to provide therapy practitioners with evidence-based strategies related to the prevention and management of De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis, a repetitive stress condition of the distal wrist/thumb commonly known as “Mommy’s Thumb”. The course will emphasize understanding key risk factors during the prenatal and postpartum periods and implementing preventative interventions to reduce the likelihood of onset or exacerbation of the condition. Participants will learn ergonomic principles, joint protection techniques, and client education strategies to reduce strain and support functional hand use.

The role of rehab therapists in helping individuals mobilize safely without increased incisional strain within 24 - 48 hours after cesarean section, cesarean hysterectomy, and large-degree perineal tears will be reviewed in this course. Clinicians will learn strategies that improve functional mobility activities and recovery involving bed mobility, gait, newborn care, and wound management strategies.
