Course Abstract

The aim of this course is an overview of hip osteoarthritis pathology and epidemiology with specific focus on physical therapy examination utilizing clinical decision rules and an overview of supported interventions to maximize functional outcome and minimize pain.

Tom Denninger, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Tom Denninger completed his Bachelors of Science in 2005 and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2008 from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. Following graduation Dr. Denninger remained an additional year at Sacred Heart as an Orthopedic Resident, taking advanced practice courses, practicing in the university’s outpatient orthopedic clinics, and instructing in the DPT program. Tom relocated to Greenville, SC in September of 2009 to practice at Proaxis Therapy Spine Center.  Dr. Denninger holds Board Certification in Orthopedic Physical Therapy and has completed his manual therapy fellowship through Evidence In Motion and is recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists.  He serves as faculty for both the Evidence In Motion Orthopedic Residency and Proaxis Therapy Orthopedic and Sports Residencies.  Dr. Denninger was an author on the recent Clinical Practice Guidelines for Low Back Pain and has current research under way in lumbar spinal stenosis, chronic ankle sprains, and the use of trigger point dry needling.
