Substance use disorders are a significant problem in the elderly population. Studies have shown that elderly patients with substance use disorders have very good outcomes when diagnosed and treatment is initiated using SBIRT, a technique incorporating Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral for Intervention.

This course is designed to teach everything a learner needs to know about hip anatomy, injuries, fractures, surgery, complications, and evidence-based rehabilitation. We will be discussing the latest clinical practice guidelines for Hip fractures (2021), differential diagnosis, medical complications, and much more.

Opioid abuse is one of the leading causes of death and non-accidental trauma among adults in the United States. The economic burden, including healthcare costs, addiction treatment, lost productivity, and criminal involvement of prescription opioid misuse, in the United States continues to rise. Healthcare providers need to be cognizant of the various community stakeholders to recognize opioid abuse and recognize potential abuse. Healthcare professionals can promote safe opioid use and prevent abuse by assisting and helping patients manage associated pain related to their injuries, which is critical to the well-being of student-athletes. The instructor will provide an overarching review of the literature as it pertains to prescription opioid use to allow the participant to recognize the risks and signs of opioid abuse, addiction, and diversion.

Neurodiversity, neurodivergence, and neurodiversity (ND)-affirming approaches are discussed in this course. Strengths-based assessment, goals and supports that characterize ND-affirming approaches are described. Case scenarios are presented to exemplify ways to help those who are neurodivergent succeed in school and clinical settings.

This course will review definitions and guidelines on data and statistical tools commonly used within research and their application to physical therapy programming. We will review example research article breakdowns and the knowledge translation process to identify how to accurately manipulate, interpret, and implement data and statistics into your physical therapy practice.

This introduction to hospice and end of life care for physical therapists covers the hospice benefit. Emphasis is placed on the role of physical therapists in hospice and how physical therapy can obtain a "seat at the table" with patients on hospice care.

The many different types of elbow fractures will be discussed in this course. It will review current practice evaluation processes as well as conservative and/or surgical interventions ideas for these conditions for return to independence with all meaningful occupations.

This course covers a variety of topics, including home environments, reimbursement, regulation, OASIS data collection, quality/satisfaction reporting, clinical interventions, problem-solving, benefits/challenges, technology advances, and case studies. Participants can expect to become well-informed of home health clinical practice and better understand ways to utilize a top-of-license approach to working in the home health environment.

Wrist fractures are one of the most common traumatic injuries of the upper extremity, which could result from a fall on an outstretched hand.
