Given the ever increasing demands for evidence-based therapeutic outcomes, clinicians often grapple with how to effectively evaluate client-centered outcomes of seating and mobility interventions. This session will introduce the use of single-subject research designs (SSRDs) as a way to promote evidence-based evaluation of outcomes through a clinically oriented yet rigorous approach that allows clinicians to quantitatively evaluate and validate outcomes within their everyday practice.

This session will review updated regulations related to physical and chemical restraints in long-term care. Resident assessment, therapy interventions, and alternatives to restraints will be discussed. The electrocardiogram offers immediate information regarding the stability of our patient’s ability to properly perfuse. Many in the profession still struggle to interpret EKG and make sound clinical decisions based on their patient’s EKG. This course will help you to integrate your patient’s EKG findings \into your Physical therapy Plan of care. You will practice calculating a patient’s rate, rhythm, axis and regularity using EKG strips. The course objectives will be met through the use of lecture and practice lab interpreting EKG. Dynamic seating has four primary functions – to allow movement, to diffuse force, to protect the client, and to protect the seating system and mounting hardware. This course will take a look at the product options, discuss clinical indicators and contra-indicators for dynamic components and present case studies to illustrate these points.

This course provides an up to date literature review on guidelines for the management and treatment options for post-concussion syndrome.
