May Awareness Days Put PT in the Spotlight

May is National Physical Fitness Month and National Bike Month! As you know, physical fitness can improve muscle strength and bone and heart health in children/adolescents, decrease risk for heart disease and type II diabetes in adults, and decrease the risk of falls and improve cognitive functioning in older adults. We have several sports CEU courses related to physical fitness and sports-related injuries, including our sports virtual conference recordings that are now available for viewing. On May 15, Erik Moen returns to PhysicalTherapy.com to present When Things Go Wrong-An Insight to Origins of Bicycle-Fit Related Pain Syndromes. The course will cover the preferred evaluation and treatment paradigm for the overuse injured or pain syndrome endurance bicyclist.

New Text Course:

Medication regimens can be complex. They can also impact a patient’s ability to properly participate in physical therapy. General Pharmacology for the Physical Therapist Assistant by Michelle Fritsch, PharmD, CGP, BCACP will provide understanding of the role medications play through application in patient cases.

Recorded Webinar Spotlight:

The recordings are now available for Gait Analysis and Interventions in Patients with Neurological Disorders, a 4-hour course presented by Jill Seale, PT, PhD, NCS. Case studies with video gait analysis are included. If you work with a neuro caseload, you will not want to miss this course!

Upcoming May Live Webinars:

  • May 8, 2015 - General Pharmacology for the Physical Therapist by Michelle Fritsch, PharmD, CGP, BCACP will cover important topics such as determining all medications taken by a patient and how they are taken; differentiating common over-the-counter pain medications; and side effects and risks associated with pain medications.
