Early Youth Sports Specialization has become a common occurrence in many countries of the world. Researchers have found that early sports specialization can have both negative and positive effects on young athletes. This presentation will provide an evidence-based discussion on this topic including recognition and management strategies. This course will focus on the signs and symptoms which result from impairments in the cervical spine commonly seen after a concussive event, and how to distinguish them from the overlapping manifestations from the multiple systems potentially involved. Best practice recommendations from the recent Clinical Practice Guideline for rehabilitation after a concussive event (Concussion CPG) will be discussed, and strategies for intervention and evidence for clinical management will be presented.

Dizziness is one of the most common symptoms after concussion. This course will focus on specific vestibular issues that may arise with concussion, as well as how to treat those issues to maximize recovery. The focus of this course is to review current standards and guidance to return individuals post concussion to activity, including considerations for self-report and performance-based assessment to identify impairments that require intervention, and methods to progress challenges in therapy to approximate the conditions that are necessary for individuals across the lifespan. This presentation reviews the definitions of supervision as well as APTA guidance related to supervising assistants, students, and aides in various healthcare environments. Documentation guidelines for Medicare are reviewed as these relate to what an assistant can complete versus a therapist. The use of students and rehab aides in long-term care is reviewed in accordance with Medicare guidelines. Real examples of common supervisory ethical dilemmas from the field, including the appropriate action steps to take in each one, are highlighted. Because the pelvic floor muscles are "hidden from view" inside the pelvis, sEMG biofeedback treatment is an effective and evidence-based treatment option for addressing certain pelvic floor muscle impairments. This introductory course will explore how sEMG biofeedback is used in the physical therapist treatment of pelvic floor disorders and its efficacy in improving patient outcomes. This course is directly related to the practice of physical therapy and is therefore appropriate for the PT/PTA.

PTs and PTAs practicing in the state of Indiana are required to complete a two-hour course on ethics and jurisprudence for license and certificate renewal respectively. This course reviews the principles of ethics, common ethical dilemmas, and methods for analyzing ethical dilemmas. Jurisprudence components as outlined by the Indiana Board of Physical Therapy, Indiana Physical Therapy Practice Act and The Indiana Administrative Code is also discussed.

Understanding and addressing chronic pain before it is treated pharmacologically may be an important first step in addressing opioid misuse. By attending this course, therapists will gain a better understanding of the scope of opioid use and abuse as well as the role that therapists can play in identifying and addressing addiction and pain.
